Community Coaching Project:The National Association of Counties (NACo) and the White House Rural Council came together on a national initiative to help advance counties’ efforts to reduce the number of rural children and families living in poverty. The Rural Impact County Challenge (RICC) sought to highlight and support counties making a real difference in the lives of children in rural communities. The Curry County Commissioners passed a resolution to step up to this challenge in April 2016 to support efforts in the county to reduce childhood poverty.  The resolution partners the Curry Homeless Coalition, Oregon Coast Community Action, and the County on this challenge. Ten county teams were selected to receive assistance from a Roadmaps to Health Community Coach from the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps Program through this challenge.
