Curry Homeless Coalition's 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness.
The Curry Homeless Coalition began the process of developing a county-wide plan to address homelessness in 2008.

The plan development was critical for the county in a number of ways:

  • It presented to county residents the situation of homelessness in the county and its causes.
  • It demonstrated to all county residents an organized effort to concretely address the causes of the homelessness in the county.
  • It validated the many efforts of local organizations, faith-based groups and individuals who have not only been serving the homeless, but working toward reducing homelessness in the county.
  • Finally, it enabled the Coalition to present to potential funding agencies a plan that was developed by and supported by a wide coalition of stakeholders.

For the plan to be recognized and accepted as a knowledgeable, compassionate and results-oriented plan, it called for the widest community participation.

The finalized plan was submitted to the US Interagency Council on Homelessness and was acknowledged as a 'superb' plan.

“I can’t tell you what a pleasure it was to receive your plan. I often have to work pretty hard to push things along and get a local plan up and running.  You and your colleagues in Curry County have not only completed a plan but have done a superb job. It has all the fundamentals of a successful plan, thoroughly directed towards housing solutions, and oriented towards measurable outcomes.”
